Actually that's not quite right.

You see, The Manifesto wasn't supposed to be any sort of guidebook or doctrine. Marx and Engels thought that one day, abused workers would rise up and take charge of their own lives. The Manifesto was supposed to outline what would happen if the common man was given power and used it in a charitable manner. Very idealistic, totally unworkable but looks nice on paper to two thinkers who were just throwing around ideas in a coffee shop.

But you're right, it is a cultural bogeyman today for people who really haven't tried to find out what was happening in the USSR. They were and still are, so terrified of the Soviet Union, they would rather not know and go with what was presented to them over the decades. However, they really do think that if say, the government is given the power to put on an additional layer of regulation on the market, next thing you know, workers will be rising up, rioting against their bosses and two weeks later, we have collective farming and Congress is issuing a five year plan. It's deep, culturally ingrained paranoia.

And it's unfair to compare the rising class inequalities in the US to what happened in the Soviet Union. When a group of a few thousand people take everything the country has and make you their indentured servant while taking away all forms of communication and all links to the outside world, then we'll talk.

It'll never be cleared up my friend, because The Manifesto still serves as a useful cultural bogeyman for the military-industrial-congressional complex.

And you haven't witnessed such a theft of societal wealth yet?

What do you call what is happening here now in the US?

This is almost the same thing perpetrated by the same 'bluebloods.'

These bastards are like cockroaches, once you think you have eliminated them, they come back twice as strong!
