It ties in to your above post about IQ and having the smarts not to be killed doing stupid crap and <i>not being eaten</i> ! As for being interstellar predators, I don't think baseline humanity will colonize the stars, but I think a human variant will and a certain amount of "primal" instinct will be kept in, just for an "edge" so to speak. I found it very amusing there were rifle racks inside observatories. Although we were carrying out a totally peaceful pursuit, we had no idea whether a polar bear could be waiting outside...
