welcome to weird things 4.0

by Greg Fish

After battling all sorts of technical issues for the last month and a half, Weird Things is back to its old domain with a little twist. The old blog was hosted on WordPress.com, which was great for a new site, but restrictions on how much you could customize the look and feel of things, as well as what content you can embed into a post and how, didn’t leave much space for growth. So instead of taking a step back, Weird Things is using its own servers which means that I’ll have the flexibility to offer more content and powerful new features like the new social bookmarking toolbar which allows you submit any post to any network rather than just the big four as in the old version.

In addition, departing from True/Slant’s policy, there will be no need to register to comment or any moderation other than for spam or wildly inappropriate things banned by virtually any site on the web. That’s right, the old commenting policy is back because I want to hear what you have to say without making you enter passwords or set up accounts. This blog will still be churning out news, analysis and opinion about the worlds of popular science and skepticism, it’ll just be doing it in new ways.

Damn. I spent the last 3 weeks registering myself on True/Slant. Thank goodness that’s over ;)

In all seriousness, what in the fundoogle was the T/S commenting structure all about? That must have driven you insane!

Nice to see you back Greg!

    Cheers, Ian

    Charles,

I’m working on an e-mail update feature and hope to have that available in the next week or so. There’s also a Facebook page in the making. Both will be announced when everything is up, ready and tested.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you’ll enjoy your stay!
