a little something dark and moody…
For a little change of pace around here and because the name of this blog obligates me to post something at least somewhat offbeat once in a while, I thought I’d give you a little musical snapshot from Lithuania. Working with expert CG artist Justinas Vinevicius, rap / hip hop group G&G Sindikatas created this unique and moody video for their popular single Degantis Sniegas (Burning Snow) from their 2004 album Alchemija (Alchemy).
For those of you who may be wondering, I can’t translate the lyrics. While I’m fluent in Russian and I can hear words that sound misleadingly familiar at first, Lithuanian is a very different language. While there might be a few translations out on the web, keep in mind that many people who translate music, books and movies take shortcuts and have to use substitutes for expressions that simply don’t exist in the language to which they’re translating. The end result might be a rather rough approximation instead of a precise interpretation.
