blankets, now with mystical good vibes

How to turn your weekend knitting project into a luxury product for the less than discerning customer with a little anti-scientific woo.
happy baby

The internet isn’t only a source of news, education and entertainment of all sorts for all kinds of audiences. It can also present its fair share of faceplam and headdesk inducing things like this.

Conscious Blankee is a special and beautiful keepsake blanket that is made with the most delicate and luxurious fabrics, the finest cashmere, silks and organic cotton. Each blanket carries with it a very pure and heartfelt intention, and that is to bring love and light and healing to the child. Every blanket has a sacred mantra hand-sewn onto the blanket, which raises the frequency and vibration of the blanket.

Whew, the woo is strong with this one. Frequencies? Vibrations? Modern science being called “western” to give their product that Far East mystical vibe? Check, check and check. It’s as if the copywriters got out the ultimate crank checklist and made sure their redundant, poorly worded product description hit every single point. And just how much are you paying for a warm and fuzzy feeling of an invisible sutra? Between $320 and $520, or more than three times what a blanket made of the same materials alone would cost you at a store that doesn’t use woo to inflate their profit margins.

Tell you what though. If you want those warm fuzzies and have enough cash to burn, I can come to your house and personally chant something mystical sounding over a blanket while hugging it to transfer all my positive emotions about your little bundle of joy for just $300. Yes, travel costs and expenses are extra but think about all the good vibes you and your baby will get…
